With Spider-Man’s enemies stacking up in the live-action films, could we finally be looking at the arrival of the Sinister Six in some form? It sure seems as though Sony is still interested in the idea.
Speaking in a featurette on the Spider-Man: Far From Home Blu-ray, Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal talks about the possible future of the villain group:
All of these villains that we now have in our universe happen to be characters that are in the Sinister Six. There may be something that happens with that.
This isn’t exactly a huge surprise as Sony has discussed the possibility for some time now. The last update we heard was back in Dec. 2018 when Pascal told Vanity Fair, “I’m just waiting for Drew to be ready to direct it. I would do anything with Drew Goddard. I’m just waiting for him to tell me he wants to.”
At the time Pascal said she had spoken with Goddard as recently as that October, so we’re only a year out from the last confirmed discussion about the possibility.
As it stands right now we’ve only met Vulture (Michael Keaton) and Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal). To a lesser degree, we have seen the Shocker, and had hints to the Prowler, but even if we include those two that leaves us two short of the six. Who else could Sony be planning to bring in and quickly?
We’ll just have to wait and see, but a Sinister Six movie is feeling inevitable at this point and we’re all for it.
