Celebrate Spider-Man Day (although it’s the wrong day)

August 1 has become Spider-Man Day in celebration of his first appearance in Amazing Fantasy #15. However, it’s the wrong day.

With a cover date of August 1962, the world was introduced to Spider-Man in Amazing Fantasy #15. August 1 has become the day the world acknowledges his impact on pop culture and teaching us the important lesson of “With great power comes great responsibility.”

With the release of comics back in the 1960s comics weren’t released in quite the same regimented way they are today. It’s a bit more difficult to nail it down, but the official release date was Aug. 10.

Honestly, it doesn’t matter. The fact Spider-Man is acknowledged is cool enough.

Everyone should be so lucky to have a day named for them, and we definitely think Spidey is deserving it.

Go out and enjoy your day, Peter!… oh… um… Spider-Man, we mean Spider-Man!
