Jon Watts teases possible appearance from Miles Morales in 'Spider-Man' reboot

Before Kevin Feige confirmed that Marvel had no intention of not making Peter Parker the focal point of their Spider-Man reboot, a popular theory was that Miles Morales would be wearing the suit. Well, while that won’t be the case in 2017, it sounds like he may still be included in the movie in some way!

Asked about Miles possibly appearing in a recent interview, director Jon Watts revealed:

“I can’t talk about that, because, you know, that will reveal too much. We’re still writing the story…we haven’t finished all the way through the story yet, so who knows.”

While he doesn’t confirm or deny anything there, Watts’ comments are still very interesting! One feasible possibility is that Miles will be one of Peter’s friends in this new movie, possibly leaving the door open to him taking over the mantle somewhere down the line. We’re just going to have to wait and see.

As for what makes Tom Holland the right choice for their Spider-Man, Watts was quick to heap praise upon the young actor and what exactly he brings to the role.

“He’s sweet, but he seems like he’d be really morally grounded and he can be a little dorky when you need him to. Also, he was in Billy Elliot in the West End, so he can actually just do a backflip. He’s already a lot closer to being Spider-Man than you think.”
