As you may remember, Shailene Woodley was cast as Mary Jane Watson in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. She shot all of her scenes, but Marc Webb and Sony decided to cut them out in order to focus on Peter and Gwen’s relationship. Woodley was supposed to be back for The Amazing Spider-Man 3, but that’s no longer happening.
While promoting her new movie Insurgent, Woodley was told about the new Marvel/Sony Spider-Man reboot and yelled “heck yeah!” when asked if she’d be interested in playing Mary Jane again.
Unfortunately for Woodley, it’s unlikely she’ll be asked back. The latest rumors say that Marvel and Sony are looking for a young teen actor who can pass as a 15 year old Peter Parker.
