Venom 2 is rapidly taking shape, and the latest announcement is the addition of Academy Award-winning cinematographer Robert Richardson.

While we still don’t know a release date for Venom 2, things are definitely beginning to take shape. Andy Serkis has signed on to direct, Tom Hardy is assisting with the script, Michelle Williams looks set to return, and now this big news.

Richardson has worked multiple times with Quentin Tarantino, and most recently worked on Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. He had been rumored to be joining Matt Reeves’ The Batman, but that was rapidly shot down.

Considering how in-demand Richardson is, it seems likely that Venom 2 will be shooting sooner rather than later. Considering when Serkis joined the production, we would estimate a very late 2019, or super early 2020 start to production. Seeing as Venom came out on Oct. 5, 2018, it feels like an Oct. 2020 release date would be too tight. Currently, there is a placeholder for Oct. 2, 2020, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

Now to see if we are indeed going to be seeing Carnage this time around.
