Sally Field comments on Marvel's Spider-Man reboot, laughs at Aunt May movie rumor

E! Online caught up with Sally Field at SXSW at the premiere of her new indie movie Hello, My Name Is Doris and asked about her time in The Amazing Spider-Man franchise. She said that Andrew Garfield was a perfect Spider-Man, and that she’d miss working with him.

Sally Field played Peter’s Aunt May in the two Garfield flicks. Calling Garfield “just perfect,” the acting icon told me at the South by Southwest premiere of her indie drama Hello, My Name Is Doris, that he is the “most perfect fellow to work with, so I will miss him, but I’ll find him.”

The Huffington Post also caught up with Field, and asked her about that silly Aunt May spin-off movie rumor.

“Aunt May spinoff? And make her the lead? What would you do with her?” Field said in an interview with The Huffington Post at the South by Southwest Film Festival.

“She has no special powers whatsoever. She was a housewife waiting for the kids to come home,” Field said while laughing about the idea. “I think they did that: It was called ‘The Donna Reed Show.'”

With Garfield out and a new deal with Sony, Marvel is searching for a new Spider-Man right now. Expect an announcement in the next month or so.
