Alex Kurtzman's Venom/Carnage also set to be released in 2017?

Following reports that Sony are planning on putting Peter Parker on the bench to focus on a new female-led spin-off in 2017 (you can find more details on that by clicking here), we now have more details on both Sinister Six and Venom.

Many fans are of course sceptical about the movie focusing on a team of villains, but Sony apparently believes that Drew Goddard is the perfect man for the job and can steer the franchise in the right direction.

“Having Goddard on board places the movie in the hands of someone who has lived in this world. If you look at Cabin In The Woods, he did such a phenomenal job on that in redefining and commenting on the genre while also completely embracing it. He’s a fanboy which compliments his talents as a filmmaker.”

As for Venom, Alex Kurtzman (The Amazing Spider-Man 2) is still attached to direct and is writing the movie with Ed Solomon (Men in Black).

However, it has now been revealed that a possible title for the project is Venom Carnage, and that gives us a MUCH better idea of the direction that particular spin-off will be heading in. That too is now set for a 2017 release according to reports.
