Sarah Gadon confirmed for ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’, will not play Mary Jane

Sarah Gadon just confirmed on Twitter that she will not be playing Mary Jane Watson. The Wrap’s Jeff Sneider reports that Gadon will appear briefly in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

This week has been an insane week for Spider-Man news (and Spider-Man News!). First Sony announced two new Spider-Man movies would be released in 2016 and 2018. Then it was reported that Shailene Woodley had been cut from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and that Sarah Gadon had been cast in an unknown role. Fans were quick to speculate that Gadon may replace Woodley as Mary Jane but now we know that is not happening.

So how do we wrap up this crazy week? Shailene Woodley’s Mary Jane has been cut from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and as far as we know, she’ll be back in The Amazing Spider-Man 3. Fans may not be happy with her casting, but there’s no real evidence to suggest that she’ll be recast in the 2016 sequel.
