Just a week after we learned that Sony was moving forward with a Venom movie, we now know of another Spider-Man spinoff that they’re working on.
The Hollywood Reporter says that Sony has hired Thor: The Dark World writer Chris Yost to work on a script for a movie featuring Black Cat and Silver Sable. Yost is working off of a previous script from Lisa Joy, the co-creator of HBO’s Westworld.
Sony hopes to find a director soon so that they can start shooting by this fall. Matt Tolmach and Amy Pascal are producing the movie, which was previously known as the “secret female spinoff project.”
Like Venom, this Black Cat/Silver Sable movie will not be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’ll be set in Sony’s own universe.
