Sony Pictures held a presentation on Monday night at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, and it looks as though there are a lot of plans for the growth of the Spider-Man spinoffs.
During its presentation, Sony Pictures confirmed that a third Venom film is on the way, surprising absolutely no one. No additional details were announced as of yet.
The big surprise of the night was the announcement of El Muerto which is set to star Latin Grammy winner Bad Bunny. Introduced in Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #6 in 2006, Juan-Carlos Estrada Sánchez is the latest member of his family to take on the mantle of El Muerto. He was trained by his father to be the next to don the mystical mask that gives family members their powers. The film is set to hit theaters on Jan. 12, 2024.
Also clarified at the presentation was the title of the third Spider-Verse film. Originally presumed to be called Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Part II, it will now be known as Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is dated for June 2, 2023, and Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will follow it on March 29, 2024.
With Kraven and Madame Web on the way, it looks as Sony Pictures has a lot of Spider-Man related projects on its plate for some time to come.
