From the “No one saw this one coming!” files, comes news that Sony Pictures is working on a Madame Web movie.
According to a report from Collider, Morbius scribes Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless have been tipped to write a spinoff movie for Madame Web. There is no timeline for the movie, but it certainly sounds like something that would be used to set up an expansion into other Spider characters over at Sony.
Madame Web was first introduced in The Amazing Spider-Man #210 and her claim to fame is she is connected to “The Great Web.” This is a concept that all spider-powered people in all the universes are connected in some form. This could be used as an origin to bring in Spider-Gwen, Miles Morales, and so many more.
There’s no time line for the movie to go into production, but we will be watching this with great interest.
