Andy Serkis is spending more time behind the camera these days, and now it appears that Venom 2 could be his next project.
According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, Serkis has met with Sony about the possibility of heading up the sequel. Reuben Fletcher directed the first film, but is not returning for the follow-up.
Best known for his motion-capture work as Gollum in the Lord of the Rings series, and Caeser in the Planet of the Apes series, Serkis has been spending more time behind the camera as of late.
Serkis is said to be one of several names in contention for the job, but was at the Sony lot earlier this week to take a meeting about the project. This could mean he is a bit further along in the process.
With the first film having earned $856M globally for the studio, it’s going to want to make sure it picks the right person for this job.
