Spider-Man: Far From Home is off to a swinging start to this holiday weekend in the United States. The latest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has set a new Tuesday opening record taking in a massive $39.3M.
What film did it beat? The Amazing Spider-Man which was released on July 3, 2012 and took in $35M.
At least the record is staying in the Spider-Family!
The other July record set by Far From Home is the number of screens it’s showing on this weekend. The film is showing on a monumental 4,634 screens across North America. Analysts are currently predicting a six-day holiday haul of around $125M, about $8M more than Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017.
It seems a pretty safe bet that Far From Home will win the weekend box office. The only other major release this week is Midsommar, and that is definitely a smaller film.
