Over the weekend, the first footage from Spider-Man: Far From Home was shown at a Comic-Con Experience in Brazil. Now, the movie’s synopsis has been revealed.
Peter Parker (Tom Holland) and his friends go on summer holidays to Europe. However, the friends will hardly be able to rest—Peter will have to agree to help Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) uncover the mystery of creatures that cause natural disasters and destruction throughout the continent.
The synopsis was shared by a Russian press site, though it can no longer be reached (as of this writing). That being said, it lines up neatly with the footage that was shown off.
Apparently, the creatures causing these natural disasters all over Europe are known as the Elementals, a group of four extradimensional beings with power over natural forces. The group includes Hydron, Magnum, Hellfire and Zephyr.
While helping Fury, Spider-Man will allegedly team with Mysterio (Jake Gyllanhaal), who has somehow gained the full support of Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. That’s a surprise, given Mysterio is traditionally an antagonist in the comics. It’s likely Mysterio will take advantage of his newfound hero status and eventually battle against Spider-Man.
Spider-Man: Far From Home hits theaters on July 5, 2019.
