Stan Lee wasn’t just a prolific artist and storyteller, he was also a prolific actor. The late legend appeared in several movies and TV shows over his illustrious career, and he’s set to make another appearance in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
In an interview with Fandango, producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller talked about Lee’s involvement, calling his cameo poignant given his recent passing.
“We certainly felt really happy to do it with him, and obviously [with Stan Lee’s passing], it made it extra meaningful and moving to watch the movie get finished and just know that he gets to be such a resonant part of it,” Lord said.

Lee’s cameos are typically blink and you’ll miss it affairs. But his role is a little more meaningful in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, according to Lord.
“Essentially we really thought he was the guy who created the character with Steve Ditko that we should really give him something important like a talisman,” Lord said.
“He’s so integral to the spirit of the movie,” Miller added.
Fans can look out for Lee’s cameo when Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse hits theaters on December 14.
