Jared Leto Preps for Morbius Movie in New Video

Sony’s Spider-Verse is about to get bigger. Following the success of Venom, the studio is set to start production on Morbius, the Living Vampire, with Jared Leto in the lead role.

Leto released a video that shows him prepping for the role, which means his beard needs to go. The actor is gearing up to play the bloodthirsty Morbius, a tragic anti-hero who was formerly known as Michael Morbius.

Like all comics origins, Morbius is imbued with vampiric superhuman abilities after a biochemical experiment goes bad. Eventually, he becomes a terrifying vigilante as he attempts to find a cure.

Given that description, Morbius sounds like the perfect counterpart to Venom, who helped kick off this expanded Spider-Verse.

Venom has performed extremely well at the box office, which will not only encourage Sony to make a sequel, but further expand into its catalog of Marvel characters.

There’s no word on when Morbius will hit the big screen, but with early production now underway, we can probably expect a late 2019 or early 2020 release.
