'Spider-Man: Homecoming' to skip the Super Bowl

In a bit of disappointing news, it appears that Sony Pictures will not be running any Super Bowl spots for Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Deadline is reporting that Sony will run spots for Daniel Espinosa’s upcoming sci-fi thriller Life. These spots will “bookend” the mega sporting event, meaning we will see spots for it during the pre and post game. Deadline previously reported that Sony had purchased running time for one pre-show spot. If this is truly the case, then it would appear that Sony will just be promoting Life during the big game. No Spidey.

Marvel may not be entirely absent from the big game however. Disney has purchased two spots, rumored to be for Pirates of the Carribean and Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 2.

What do you think about this update? Are you disappointed that there won’t be any TV spots for Spider-Man: Homecoming? What are you looking forward to seeing on Sunday in its place? Sound off in the comments below.
