Donald Glover discusses 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' role

Donald Glover has always been a huge favorite among fans everywhere. Years back, he was a fan-favorite choice to play Spider-Man, with his campaign even leading to comic book creator Brian Michael Bendis creating Miles Morales. Donald even voiced Miles in the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon!

Needless to say, he’s a pretty popular guy. So when Glover was cast in Spider-Man: Homecoming, it came as a wonderful surprise. When asked about how his casting came to be, Glover said:

“The Internet is a strange box. It was weird to see that full circle. I only did it because I thought it was a cool role. I’m never going to do something just because. I’d rather take a risk, at least right now when I can still do that. It’s just weird. The movie was fun to shoot. I’m glad I got the opportunity. You don’t want it to feel like some sort of affirmative action. This wasn’t that at all. I know the director, he’s doing a really good job and good ideas.”

It’s a still a mystery as to who he’s playing, in line with a large amount of the castings thus far. Many have been speculating as to who he could be playing, from Daily Bugle employee Robbie Robertson, to The Prowler. Regardless of who he may be playing, it’s exciting to see such a passionate actor and fan be a part of this movie.

You can catch Donald Glover in his upcoming FX show Atlanta on September 6th.
