Denis Leary reveals the insane sounding plot of 'The Amazing Spider-Man 3'

With a Sinister Six movie originally scheduled to be released next year (which rumour has it would have also starred Spider-Man), it’s hard to say what direction The Amazing Spider-Man 3 would have gone in.

Denis Leary may have shed at least some light on that though, as he revealed in an interview at Comic-Con today that one of the possibilities discussed was that he was going to reprise the role of Captain George Stacy when Peter Parker used a mysterious formula to resurrect his loved ones.

Wait, what?

“Possibly in 3, there was this idea at one point that Spider-Man would be able to take this formula and regenerate the people in his life that had died. So, there was this discussion that Captain Stacy would come back even bigger in episode 3.”

In the Ultimate comics, Gwen was resurrected through the use of the man made Carnage symbiote, and that was actually an idea thrown around by Sony execs in those leaked emails, so it could be that the threequel would have brought back everyone from Peter’s parents to Uncle Ben, Gwen and Captain Stacy through similar means.

How fans would have reacted to that is hard to say, but it would have been no doubt controversial to say the least. This might also explain how Norman Osborn would have been resurrected, but who knows the strange direction Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach would have taken the struggling franchise in had Sony not decided to team up with Marvel Studios…
