Recent reports revealed that one of the many things Sony are considering for the future of Spider-Man is to lend him to Marvel Studios. Could this be why?
It was revealed last night that Robert Downey Jr. will reprise the role of Tony Stark/Iron Man in Captain America 3, and that movie will apparently adapt the beloved 2006/7 event series, Civil War. It’s not clear whether the Mark Millar and Steve McNiven penned storyline will be contained within just the threequel or into a third Avengers, but big changes are coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
As you more than likely already know, Peter Parker plays an integral role in Civil War. At first siding with Iron Man, he reveals his secret identity to the world and later defects to Captain America’s side after realising what a mistake he’s made.
If Marvel really do want to get their hands on Spider-Man, this has to surely be one of the main reasons why. Whichever way you look at it, his inclusion here would greatly benefit both Marvel and Sony in the long run, so it could happen!
The studio which holds the rights to Spider-Man apparently want to take Spidey in a new direction, and his identity being revealed to the world provides them with a plethora of new storytelling possibilities which would shake up the franchise.
It’s all speculation for the time being of course, but if Spider-Man is about to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he’s hoping that it’s to unmask as part of Marvel’s Civil War! Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
