The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has hit the $700 million mark at the worldwide box office today after earning $502 million overseas and $198 million domestically.
The Marc Webb helmed sequel which stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Jamie Foxx was released in late April in many international territories before following shortly after in May for those living in North America.
It has yet to beat Captain America: The Winter Soldier‘s $710 million haul, while X-Men: Days of Future Past isn’t too far behind with $624 million.
Domestically, Bryan Singer’s latest X-Men movie has topped The Amazing Spider-Man 2 to become the biggest summer movie of 2014, though Transformers: Age of Extinction is likely to beat both of them next month!
Domestically, this is the lowest grossing of the Spider-Man films, but internationally, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is in second place to only Spider-Man 3.
