'The Amazing Spider-Man 3' pushed back to an undisclosed 2017 release date?

In a post about the rumoured slate for Warner Bros.’ upcoming DC Comics movies (more details on that can be found by clicking here), Ain’t It Cool News reveal that The Amazing Spider-Man 3 may have been pushed back to 2017.

Originally set to be released on June 10th, 2016, there are a number of possible reasons for this apparent delay. For a start, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 didn’t get the critical or commercial reception that Sony Pictures were hoping for, so they may have just gone back to the drawing board in order to deliver a far more satisfying third instalment a little later than originally planned.

However, with Drew Goddard recently deciding to drop out of Marvel and Netflix’s Daredevil series to focus on the Sinister Six spin-off, it could just be that Sony will decide to release that movie in The Amazing Spider-Man 3‘s original release slot, before a finale to the trilogy which would pit Spidey against six of his greatest foes.

It’s also believed that Marc Webb may have to shoot a movie for Fox before he can helm the next Spider-Man, and that’s a big part of the reason why an X-Men: Days of Future Past preview was attached to The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

What do you guys think about this possible move for The Amazing Spider-Man 3?
