As you may have heard, Marvel Studios are planning on bringing Daredevil, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage to Neflix in their own respective 13 episode series’ before a Defenders spin-off which will see the street level superheroes come together in an Avengers-like team to battle a currently unknown threat.
The Cabin in the Woods’ Drew Goddard was originally attached to direct at least the first episode of Daredevil, but it has been announced that he has stepped down from the project as showrunner in order to focus on Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man spin-off, Sinister Six.
Goddard will still executive produce that series (and has already penned the first two instalments), but the fact that he’s focusing on Sinister Six could give us an indication of when we’ll see that movie. With Daredevil set for 2015, could the villain-centric spin-off actually be released in the date — June 10th, 2016 — currently given to The Amazing Spider-Man 3?
It would certainly make sense, especially if the threequel is Marc Webb and Andrew Garfield’s final instalment together, and the villainous team could then be the main foe for Spidey in an epic end to their trilogy (perhaps on the date – May 4th, 2018 – given to The Amazing Spider-Man 4) after they get their own origin story!
What do you guys think?
