Deleted after-credits scene for 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' teased a major character return

If you haven’t seen The Amazing Spider-Man 2 yet, you may want to stop reading now as the following images reveal a major spoiler from the Marc Webb helmed sequel. As those of you who have checked the movie out will know, Norman Osborn dies pretty early on (although we don’t see his actual final moments on screen) and he isn’t referenced much afterwards.

However, based on an exchange with Spidey which could be heard in the trailers for the movie – “We have big plans for you, Peter Parker” – it seems likely that Norman was originally set to have a much larger role in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and that it was cut down for some reason.

Whether Sony’s last minute plans for a Sinister Six spin-off changed that is unknown, but the images below show that the plan was originally to bring the villain (played by Chris Cooper) back somehow somewhere down the line.

Norman’s came back from the dead in the comics, but it was never via…a decapitated head! Apparently, Gustav Fiers (played by Michael Massee) walks up to it and says, “Wake up old friend.”

How they planned on bringing him back isn’t clear, but could it be for the best that they decided not to include this after-credits scene? What does it mean for the future of Norman Osborn? Sound off below.
