The Amazing Spider-Man 2 doesn’t hit North America and key territories like China and Brazil until next Friday, but the Marc Webb helmed sequel has already earned over $130 million overseas.
After a second weekend which saw it earn an additional $67.2 million, The Amazing Spider-Man 2‘s current worldwide total now stands at over $132 million.
Big things are expected when it does open domestically next week, with some analysts predicting an opening of more than $90 million.
However, a lot of that will depend on word of mouth and reviews. Many US critics have yet to weigh in on The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and the movie has so far had a somewhat mixed response from fans.
South Korea was the biggest new market this weekend with a $13.4 million, and it has earned $7 million from IMAX already.
Starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Chris Cooper and Paul Giamatti, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set to be released in the UK on 16th April and in the US on May 2nd.
