The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Paul Giamatti will play The Rhino in The Amazing Spider-Man sequel. While he seems like an unusual choice to bring the muscle bound brute to life on the big screen, his passion for the role was clear in a 2011 interview with Collider. “I thought Rhino was the greatest thing when I was a little kid. It was a guy who was basically in this rhinoceros outfit, and I always thought, ‘Why don’t they have The Rhino in one of their movies.’ But maybe The Rhino wasn’t that big of a deal for anybody but me. If they ever go with The Rhino, I would be ready and waiting.”
Giamatti’s wish has clearly come true, although it remains to be seen whether or not he will actually suit up as the villain who was first introduced in 1966’s Amazing Spider-Man #41. The site also reports that British actress Felicity Jones is in talks for an unspecified role in the follow-up to Marc Webb’s $750 million blockbuster. Many different characters come to mind when looking at Jones, and fans are already speculating that she will play either Betty Brant or Felicia Hardy/Black Cat. The duo join fellow new cast members Shailene Woodley (Mary Jane Watson) Jamie Foxx (Max Dillon/Electro) and Dane DeHaan (Harry Osborn).
