The cast of The Amazing Spider-Man sequel continues to expand, this time with the addition of Jamie Foxx as the villainous Electro. It was Variety who broke the news before the Django Unchained star seemingly confirmed it by Tweeting, “Dressed up as Electro for Halloween last night. Costume fits well.” The character of Max Dillon/Electro was first introduced in The Amazing Spider-Man #9 in 1964. He gained the ability to control electricity after being struck by lightning in a freak accident, and while an updated version of Electro was introduced in 2001’s Ultimate Spider-Man #10, this will be the first time he has been portrayed as African American. Regardless, the Academy Award winning actor makes for a fantastic addition to an already impressive cast which includes Andrew Garfield (Peter Parker/Spider-Man), Emma Stone (Gwen Stacy) and Shailene Woodley (Mary Jane Watson).
