'Spider-Man PS4' release date won't likely be announced "anytime soon"

If you were looking forward to hearing more juicy details, or finding out when the much anticipated PlayStation 4 exclusive ‘Spider-Man’ game would release, you might be a little disappointed.

The game was announced during the Sony E3 press conference back in June. At the end of that trailer, all that was said was, “in development for PS4”. The game is being developed by Insomniac Games, the guys and gals behind the critically acclaimed Ratchet and Clank and Resistance franchises.

Recently, there was a GameStop listing that had the game set for a December 26th, 2017 release date. This got fans pretty pumped up, so when Insomniac was answering questions on Twitter, fans were eager to learn some details about when we might finally get our hands on the game. When asked if this was the release date, Insomniac replied with:

With more and more fans asking about this product listing and a potential release date, Insomniac added:

With these comments, it definitely seems like we are a ways off from getting any more information about the game, including a potential release date. Insomniac wants to wait until they’re confident in the product before giving out any more details, which is quite commendable of them if you ask us. The studio really wants to get this game right, and please all of the fans by giving us the best product possible.

Insomniac Games has already told us that they have been working on ‘Spider-Man PS4’ for quite some time. The game will feature an original story and runs on the Insomniac Engine. The trailer shown at E3 was all in-game and in-engine; captured directly from a current PS4!

Since Spider-Man: Homecoming is coming out in July 2017, logically it would make sense if this game were to come out during a similar time window. When do you think we will see ‘Spider-Man PS4’ come out? What do you hope to see from the game? Let us know!
