Spider-Man: Homecoming opened to $117 million this weekend, a healthy increase over the last movie, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which made $91 million in its debut. Internationally, the Marvel and Sony movie made $140 million for a global total of $257 million.
The Amazing Spider-Man made $757 million world wide, while The Amazing Spider-Man 2 made $708 million. Sony will likely want to see Spider-Man: Homecoming make it into the $800 million range to confirm that partnering up with Marvel was worth it.
